Hope and Light

Savanah, Colette (amie) , and Sr. Romero

Hello all!

This week was a really good week for Soeur Curtis and I. Since we are both fairly new to the area we decided we really need to get to know our members here so we can work more with them. So that is what we did, we had a FHE night or got to visit with a member every day this week! It was so much fun. We went in with a spiritual thought to share and our members ended up teaching us more than we taught them, they are just incredible! One of our members Sandy is blind but she has been teaching us brail! So now I can write it and read it (by looking at it, I cant read it with my hands yet). Another one of our members Tiaré has only been a member for about a year. She got to go to the temple just a week or two ago and is still just beaming. It has been such a blessing to get to know them better and to work with them as well.

This week we also got to do service for our amie Muriel. She has been so busy with work and her kids that she hasn't had time to do much house work. So we went over and helped with some Spring cleaning. Muriel is a super star, she grew up Catholic but has not been practicing for a long time. She still prays every day and is very open to the spirit and always wants to learn more. She was given a Book of Mormon by a friend (a member in our branch) about a month or so ago and she is already in Alma, so awesome! We are really excited to keep working with her.

So this Sunday we had a "Missionary Sacrament Meeting", so one of our recent converts Corinne gave a testimony, our DMP (Ward Mission Leader) spoke, one of the members of the bishopric, and I gave a talk on "Christ est ma lumière" (Christ is my light). I used a talk from President Uchtdorf tilted "The Hope of God's Light", here is a quote that I really loved from it:

"Isn’t it wonderful to know that we don’t have to be perfect to experience the blessings and gifts of our Heavenly Father? We don’t have to wait to cross the finish line to receive God’s blessings. In fact, the heavens begin to part and the blessings of heaven begin to distill upon us with the very first steps we take toward the light. The perfect place to begin is exactly where you are right now. It doesn’t matter how unqualified you may think you are or how far behind others you may feel. The very moment you begin to seek your Heavenly Father, in that moment, the hope of His light will begin to awaken, enliven, and ennoble your soul. The darkness may not dissipate all at once, but as surely as night always gives way to dawn, the light will come."

I love this, no matter where you are now, you can always turn to face the Lord again. He is always there for us. Start now. Let the hope of His light come back into your life and continue to grow. He loves you! And so do I :)

Also, this Sunday was Mother's Day, so we got to skype our families, which was Amazing! I am so grateful for technology we can use to communicate with our families :)

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers! I love you all so much, have a good week!

Avec amour, Soeur Asay
